This online role-specific training supports those in Better Futures/Home Stretch Team Leader and Manager positions to understand the operational aspects of Better Futures and how to create and maintain an Advantaged Thinking culture within teams.
Designed to be attended annually and is suitable for Team Leaders and Managers working in Better Futures, Home Stretch and Youth Services.
The focus of this session will be to familiarise you with the recently updated Learning Portal within the Better Futures Hub. The Portal is an online space that supports staff to self‑direct their practice learning and professional development. It also provides a valuable resource for leaders to use in guiding and supporting internal practice development.
Training sessions
This training contextualises transitional care services in Victoria and makes the case for why a different approach is needed. Advantaged Thinking is introduced as the distinct driving force of Better Futures practice.
Audience:
- All new Better Futures staff (Leadership, Development Coaches, Community Connectors)
- Relevant stakeholders working with young people transitioning from care
This training introduces the delivery of the Better Futures service model by Development Coaches and Community Connectors. This training will explore an Advantaged Thinking coaching approach to the service via The Deal and the 5 Offers.
Audience:
- All new Better Futures staff (Leadership, Development Coaches, Community Connectors).
This role-specific session is a dynamic, ever-changing space which invites new and experienced Development Coaches to be curious, to reflect on their current practice wins and challenges and deep dive into an aspect of Advantaged Thinking practice.

- Better Futures Development Coaches and Team Leaders
This role-specific training for new Community Connectors explores the role of Community Connections in Better Futures, theoretical understandings such as Social Capital, and how we can create opportunities for young people.

- Community Connectors and Team Leaders
This role-specific training supports those in Better Futures/Home Stretch Team Leader and Manager positions to understand the operational aspects of Better Futures and how to create and maintain an Advantaged Thinking culture within teams.
Audience:
- Leadership roles such as Team Leaders and Managers
This session is run by BSL with the support of disability specialists for Better Futures service providers and other key stakeholders. It aims to improve your understanding of disability service systems and how to navigate service intersections with Better Futures.
Audience:
- All new Better Futures staff (Leadership, Development Coaches, Community Connectors)
- Relevant stakeholders working with young people transitioning from care
